Edwin Orlando "Sugar" Díaz Laboy (born March 22, 1994) is a Puerto Rican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Early Career: Díaz was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2012 MLB draft. He started his professional career as a shortstop, but transitioned to pitching in 2014.
Seattle Mariners: He made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2016 and quickly established himself as a dominant closer.
New York Mets: Díaz was traded to the New York Mets in December 2018. After some initial struggles, he regained his form and emerged as one of the league's premier relievers.
